Questions

How much does a small business website cost?+

A five-page site from a freelancer costs about $1,000–$1,600 in the US, plus $50–$110 a month for hosting and updates. Simple sites for cafés and barbers start lower; dentists, law firms and roofers pay more.

Why does a website cost more for some businesses?+

More pages, and pages that do more: online booking, ordering, a page per service or practice area, and copy that has to be written with care. A law firm's site has to earn trust before the first call; a café's has to show the hours.

Is there a monthly cost for a website?+

Yes: hosting and the domain at the least, and usually a care plan that covers backups, updates and small edits. Budget for it from the start.
